Checking in at a hotel in Japan

Step by step

   Front desk or kiosk

   Check-in is usually from 15:00. If you arrive early, you can leave your bags.

   Show your passport

   Foreign guests are required by law to show their passport, and it may be copied or scanned. Nothing to worry about.

   Payment / deposit

   You may be asked to prepay or leave a deposit. Cards are usually fine.

   Key & facilities

   Check breakfast time, the public bath, and the Wi-Fi password. Some elevators need the key card to work.

   Storing bags

   Ask to hold luggage
